The caller had to input a Personal Identification Number or PIN. This new technology was welcomed with open arms globally as it made access to any phone anywhere! By 1995 about 6 hundred million dollars profit was made by selling international prepaid telephone cards.
The 2000's
The sales of these cards went non-stop till the 21st century reaching an amount of nearly billions. The system went at par with the other popular technologies like cellphones and the internet popular in market by that time. It was an alternative to the coin payphones and most collect call systems. The positive influence of these cards in the present century and its global acceptance ensures that it's going to last for long.
