Smartphones running older versions of Google’s Android operating system are among the most vulnerable to malware, according to a study ...
Smartphone manufacturers generally tend to settle for a 4.3 inch display as the largest possible screen that can easily be wielded in the hands of most mobile phone owners. But HTC has managed to incorporate a 4.5 inch screen in their Vivid 4G Android handset without making the overall dimensions of the phone any larger than the average 4G smartphone. Measuring 5.07 x 2.64 x 0.44 inches (129 x 67 x 11 mm), the HTC Vivid 4G is easily handled and operated even for smartphone shoppers with small to average sized hands.
The handset is heavier than most, at almost 2 ounces heftier than the standard 4G smartphone, weighing in at 6.24 ounces (177 g) as opposed to the 4.3 ounce 4G average. That 4.50 inch display employs S–LCD technology to deliver 540 x 960 pixel resolution, and offers capacitive multitouch navigation. Light and proximity sensors are built into the display, and provide auto display adjustments and auto shut off. The battery on board is a 1620 mg model, and delivers 4.60 hours of consecutive talk time and 13 days standby on a single charge.
On the hardware side, the HTC Vivid contains a dual core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 processing chip and graphics processor, and comes with 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of onboard storage. MicroSD and microSDHC card support is offered through the microSD port, which allows for memory expansion. A rear facing 8.0 megapixel camera with dual LED and autofocus features the ability to record video in 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p HD) at 30 frames per second. The front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam can record video in 1280 x 720 pixel resolution (720p HD) at 60 frames per second.
The on board music player can filter by artist, album or play list, and features background playback and album art cover, and joins an FM RDS stereo and YouTube player as multimedia features. Web browsing supports HTML and Flash, and YouTube, Twitter, Picasa and Facebook social applications are preinstalled. A microUSB port is present for charging the handset and connecting to PCs and other devices, as are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity options.
